Jewellery whose metal has been deliberately darkened in its recesses, so the carved detail stands out against the raised silver-tone surface. Ours is fashion jewellery on German silver, brass or alloy — not sterling silver.
The dark detail is meant to be there. Moisture, sweat and perfume can dull the plating over time; wipe pieces dry after wearing and store them in an airtight pouch. Never use silver dip or polish — it strips the oxidised contrast. See how to clean oxidised jewellery.
No. German silver (nickel silver) is an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc and contains no silver. Because it contains nickel, skip it if you have a known nickel allergy.
Cotton and mirror-work chaniya cholis, kurtas, handloom sarees, and indo-western outfits. It suits Navratri, Durga Puja and everyday ethnic dressing; gold-toned meenakari is the better match for heavy silk and bridal wear.
